EICR certificate FAQs
What is an EICR and why do I need one?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report checks the safety of your wiring, sockets, lights and consumer unit. Landlords in England must have a valid EICR at least every five years or at a change of tenancy.
How long does an EICR take?
A typical two or three bed home takes 2 to 4 hours. Larger or older properties can take longer. We will confirm the time window when you book.
How much does an EICR cost?
Most homes pay £120 to £200 depending on number of circuits and location. Any remedial work is quoted separately and only carried out with your approval.
What do the codes C1, C2, C3 and FI mean?
C1 means danger present and requires immediate action. C2 means potentially dangerous and should be fixed as a priority. C3 is an improvement recommendation. FI means further investigation is required.
What happens if the EICR is unsatisfactory?
You will get a clear list of issues and a fair quote to put things right. We can arrange remedial work quickly and retest once complete.
